Comments on this entry are closed

Recently I’ve noticed that some of my old posts show that ‘Comments on this entry are closed’ that means visitor won’t be able to comment on those posts. But I didn’t disable the comments option or any other setting.

After some research, I was able to find the problem. When I searched for this terms in Google I realized that many WordPress users also face this problem. So here is a quick guide to fix “Comments are Closed” under the posts.

Fixing “Comments are Closed” Problem in WordPress

You need to change two settings to fix the issue.

At first, go to your WordPress dashboard and click on “Discussion” from “Settings” tab. (Follow Screenshot)

Now check the box “Allow people to post comments on new articles” and uncheck the box “Automatically close comments on articles older than * days”.

Then click on “Save Changes”.

Now let’s see the second settings to configure.

Go to the post which shows that “Comments are Closed” and Edit the post. In the top right of Dashboard, you’ll see ‘Screen Options’. Click on it.

Screen Options will slide out. Make sure the “Discussion” checkbox is checked.

Now Scroll down to the bottom and you’ll find a ‘Discussion’ option there. Make sure that “Allow Comments” checkbox is checked. And Update your post.

That’s it. You’re done. Now people can comment on your blog posts which were previously showing that “Comments are Closed”.
